White Wood - Veria White Marble

The white marble of Veria is a very fine grain calcite quarried in the north Greece, in the central Macedonia, near Thessaloniki. 

It's chemical composition is 98% Calcite, 1% Quartz and 1% Dolomite. 

It has superior physico-mechanical properties. Specific weight is 2720 Kg/m3. It has one of the lowest absorbency Co. between marbles  (0,02Wf%) equal only to Pentelikon marble. Compresive Strength is at 990 Kg/cm2 while the Modulus of rupture is 207 Kg/cm2 and the modulus of elasticity 565,6tn/cm2. The Abrasion resistance is 6,94mm (after 1000m) and the Microhardness KNOOP 134,10Kg/mm2. The polishing it gets is really unique!

All the above characteristics are very promising and create great dynamic for this material, but they would not be important if the material did not have also such a unique and beautiful aesthetic characteristics.

In cross cut it is giving a misty sugar-white surface with beautiful clouds, while in cross cut you will get a white wood view with very fine white and grey lines!

 

It can be used on the floor like the wood and give unique results.
